Donald Cleland – Artistic and Education Director

Donald Cleland has been involved with children’s theatre for over 30 years as a public school teacher in Hillsboro.  For 19 years he taught elementary school where he integrated theatre into classroom and directed many straight plays and musicals.  He then moved to middle school where he built an active theatre program, which gained an excellent reputation in Washington County.

Donald is the creator and director of Young Actors’ Summer Theatre a popular program for youth in grades 1 through 12.  It continues to thrive today.  He has also directed many children’s productions in local community theatres, as well as acted in numerous plays and musicals in his 40-year theatre passion. 

Donald’s favorite character to play is Santa Claus, which he does every year at Sleighbells in Sherwood, Oregon.
